Maia’s interest in music grew when she was around five years old. As her brother was already attending violin lessons, she decided to join as well. In a span of a few years, she learned to play classical cello and trumpet as well. When she was about 10 years, she gave an audition for the school rock band & ended up becoming a vocalist for the group. As she grew older, she also learned to play guitar. Finally, she launched her YouTube channel in September 2013. At the same time, she began writing original songs as well.

Though she began writing original songs in 2013, she started releasing music in 2016. Her debut single titled Tahoe was released on her YouTube channel on 28 February 2016. In the same year, she launched three more singles titled July, Mendocino, and Atlanta respectively. After releasing music for some time, she got her first breakthrough after the release of her debut EP Plum Blossom. Self-released on 27 December 2018, the EP consisted of seven songs. The best thing about this was she recorded the entire EP in her parents’ guest bedroom. Also, the EP consisted of her hit songs such as cliche and feelings are fatal. Till now, the EP has gained a few hundred million streams on Spotify.

In 2019, she released her debut album the masquerade. The album consisted of 20 songs which included hit songs such as prom dress, seasonal depression, etc. In 2020, she has released a total of two EPs named Dawn and Dusk respectively. Also, she has launched her second album dawn & dusk in November of that year. After releasing numerous songs, her single Falling for U is her most popular song with over 240 million streams on Spotify.
